March 2012

Lions and other volunteers gave their support to Marie Curie and collected in the city for their flag day. An impressive total of £1,550 was collected for this very worthy cause showing the appreciation that the general public in Chichester have for the work they do.
Lion Des conservatively dressed and supported by Mayor of Chichester, Tony French.
February 2012
Lions from all the 81clubs in the South-East met in Chichester for the annual convention of our district. Lions from Chichester and other local clubs helped to organise and steward the convention and we enjoyed very successful social event on the Friday night (fancy dress) and Saturday night (banquet and ball).
December 2011
December was as always Carol float month, although we also had time for our own Christmas dinner at the anchor pub, Sidlesham. Santa was out on his sleigh most nights in the month and happily the weather was kind, although we got very wet on a couple of nights. Once again many thanks to all Lions and friends who helped with that effort. Many thanks also to the generous donations we received, over £6,500 in total.
November 2011
The last weekend in November we hosted an event at
Pilgrim Court to launch our carol float. This event was attended by the Mayor of
Chichester and residents of Pilgrims Court. Cheques were presented to
representatives of Tozer House and Stonepillow.

On Saturday our Santa float was in the town centre for the switch-on of the Christmas tree lights. The lights were on in the town again this year and our santa left his sleigh and took his place in the grotto.
A very busy weekend and thanks to all the members and friends who turned out for those events.
October 2011
October was a very busy month:
Our street collection this year was in aid of the Snowdrop Trust and we raised £311 and gave away nearly 500 balloons on the day.
On world sight day we had an open day at our workshop in Apuldram which was attended by Lions from other clubs and members of the public.
Our sight dinner in October was at the Chichester Park Hotel and was attended by just under 50 people, including representatives of the organisations who help us so much with our spectacle recycling project.
Our model railway exhibition raised around £3,000 for our welfare fund
Together with other clubs in our zone we helped organise the annual It's-a-knockout event - 10 centres for adults with learning difficulties competing in a series of games. Great fun for all concerned.
September 2011
In September, lions members travelled to Chartres, in France, for the illuminations. Through our connections with the twinning association we were welcomed by the deputy mayor of Chartres at a civic reception together with members of Lions from Chartres, who entertained our members at an informal event organised at the home of one of their members.
August 2011
The annual shoebox collection organised by the South-East Lions took 2 lorry loads of goods to Belarus, including a contribution collected by Chichester Lions.
July 2011
Richard and Corina hosted two young people on the youth exchange scheme. A programme of outings and events was arranged by club members including trips to Portsmouth, Brighton and the Isle of Wight and culminating in a farewell Bar-b-q, where we were joined by Lions from Midhurst with their young guests.
We took our stall and stocks of sunglasses to the Worthing seafront show, organised by Worthing Lions, and raise £397.
June 2011
We organised our first ever raft race with 7 teams taking part. The event was held at the Lakeside Holiday Centre. There was a pirate theme to the event and much fun was had on the water by the participating crews.
May 2011
We held our third Swimathon at the Westgate Centre. The event raised £1,300, 75% of which was donated to the charities nominated by the participants and the remainder was retained by the Lions club. We will be organising another next year.
April 2011
Our secretary, Richard Hall, was chauffeur to the junior mayor and his entourage as they fulfilled their programme of duties round Chichester accompanied by Mayor Michael Woolley.
Our Easter Egg raffle was a huge success and raised £900 which will be donated to the Snowdrop Trust. Many thanks to the pubs and other locations that hosted our eggs for the raffles, and to their patrons for their support.
Lions club members collected on behalf of Save the Children fund in Chichester to help them with their flag day.
March 2011
Lions were back on the street collecting on St Davids day on behalf of Marie Curie. This collection is an important fundraising day for this vital Cancer care charity and Lions clubs across the country assist with the street collections.
